Workshop Outline

In this hands-on workshop you will be given a very gentle introduction to JavaScript and its applications in the development of second generation web pages. You will also be given a broad assessment of the capabilities and limitations of JavaScript and the resources that it requires.

   Organisation

  • This course is organised in collaboration with the Australian Institute for Operations Research (AIOR).
  • The course will take place in a computer lab.
  • Each session will last 50 minutes followed by a 10-minute coffee/tea break.
  • Parking permits will be arranged free of charge for the participants.


   About the Organiser and Presenter

This course is organised and presented by Moshe Sniedoivch who is an Associate Professor/Reader at the Department of Mathematics, University of Melbourne. Prior to joining the Department he held positions at CSIR (South Africa, 1979-89), IBM Thomas J Watson Research Centre (USA, 1977-9), Princeton University (USA, 1976/7), University of Arizona (USA, 1972-6), Ministry of Agriculture (Israel, 1968-1972). Moshe has extensive experience in Operations Research and Interactive Computing.

Moshe is currently very active on the WWW: he is the founder and Chief Spider of WORMS - World Wide Web for Operations Research and Management Science, and the Honorary Editor of Live OR -the web site of the Operational Research Society (UK).
